Touchdown in Cascais: A Day in the Life of a Traveling Trio
We've just landed in Cascais, and oh boy, it feels like we've been on the road for days. The kiddo's meltdown in the backseat was something out of a horror movie—screaming like we've left him on the moon rather than strapped in his car seat. All because he wanted a cuddle and traffic had other plans for us. Who knew a baby could have such lungs on him? Thank goodness the hotel was just around the corner.
After all that chaos, we had planned a bit of me-time at the gym to shake off the travel dust. But turns out, babies and barbells don't mix—who knew? (Okay, everyone but us apparently.) So, we split up, and while my man watched our little escapologist, I tried to salvage some zen.
From the balcony of our hotel, you can see the whole of Cascais. It's gorgeous—a postcard-perfect view of rooftops against the ocean. Even after the day we've had, it's hard not to feel a little bit of peace looking out at the sea. Our first day here has been anything but calm, but hey, that's traveling with a toddler for you.
Now we're settling into our home away from home, and it's starting to sink in—we're actually here. Portugal, with all its promise of adventure, is right outside our window. We're excited to explore, but for now, we're just a tired mom and dad, and one very cranky little guy, ready to crash and reboot for tomorrow.
Who's ready for day two? (After a good night's sleep, fingers crossed.)
